Rust & Stardust is a Sussex-based puppet theatre company. We're passionate about stories and storytelling, folklore and mythology, unconventional performance spaces and all things handmade. Our first production, The Wild Man of Orford, was shortlisted for the 2015 Fringe Sustainable Practice Award by the Center for Sustainable Practice in the Arts and Creative Carbon Scotland.
Our first book is now available to buy! We're delighted to present the story version of our children's show The Tale of Miss Fox, written by Eleanor and illustrated by Katie with a combination of the handmade puppets and sets from the show and watercolour art. Find out more and buy it now.
We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with recorder quartet Palisander, Dr Dee's Daughter and the Philosopher's Stone, has been funded by Arts Council England for a UK tour in 2017. We've just returned from The Stables Milton Keynes and Beverley Early Music Festival, and next stop is Cheltenham Music Festival.
We are currently part of a group exhibition at the Hove Gallery & Museum with other Sussex puppeteers and artists - The Art of Puppetry: Making Magic In The Museum, which runs until November.
We've started a new section to give a closer look at some of the puppets we've made. If you'd like to commission us to make you a puppet for a show or project, or simply for display, contact us using the form.
We are also delighted to offer our Puppet Parties - the perfect handmade fun for your child's birthday or special day! For more information and booking enquiries click here.
