Rust & Stardust is a Sussex-based puppet theatre company. We're passionate about stories and storytelling, folklore and mythology, unconventional performance spaces and all things handmade. Our first production, The Wild Man of Orford, was shortlisted for the 2015 Fringe Sustainable Practice Award by the Center for Sustainable Practice in the Arts and Creative Carbon Scotland.
Our first book and second books are now available to buy! We're delighted to present the story versions of our children's shows The Tale of Miss Fox and The Tale of Piggy Pirate, written by Eleanor and illustrated by Katie with a combination of the handmade puppets and sets from the show and watercolour art. Find out more and buy now.
The green children will next appear at the beautiful St Michael and All Angels Church in Berwick, famous for its murals painted by the Bloomsbury set, and just up the road from Charleston House. We are delighted to be participating in an education project in collaboration with Berwick Church and Alfriston Primary School. Buy tickets here.
We've had a wonderful year with our Arts Council England funded tour with recorder quartet Palisander, Dr Dee's Daughter and the Philosopher's Stone. Our last performance of the show for 2017 was at Wiltshire Music Centre. Keep an eye out for updates about the show's further adventures!
We are currently part of a group exhibition at the Hove Gallery & Museum with other Sussex puppeteers and artists - The Art of Puppetry: Making Magic In The Museum, which runs until November.
We've started a new section to give a closer look at some of the puppets we've made. If you'd like to commission us to make you a puppet for a show or project, or simply for display, contact us using the form.
We are also delighted to offer our Puppet Parties - the perfect handmade fun for your child's birthday or special day! For more information and booking enquiries click here.
