Rust & Stardust is a Sussex-based puppet theatre company. We're passionate about stories and storytelling, folklore and mythology, unconventional performance spaces and all things handmade. Our first production, The Wild Man of Orford, was shortlisted for the 2015 Fringe Sustainable Practice Award by the Center for Sustainable Practice in the Arts and Creative Carbon Scotland.
We are currently working on two exciting education projects. The Lost Sheep is a collaboration with Berwick Church and Alfriston Primary School, leading workshops and rehearsal sessions to help Year 5 and 6 students create their own show. Entry is free so do come along and support the students' work!
The second is in collaboration with Orford CEVA Primary School and the Thomas Marshall Education Fund - a tale of the ghostly dog Black Shuck! Find out more and support the project.
We've had a wonderful year with our Arts Council England funded tour with recorder quartet Palisander, Dr Dee's Daughter and the Philosopher's Stone. Our last performance of the show for 2017 was at Wiltshire Music Centre. Keep an eye out for updates about the show's further adventures!
We've started a new section to give a closer look at some of the puppets we've made. If you'd like to commission us to make you a puppet for a show or project, or simply for display, contact us using the form.
We are also delighted to offer our Puppet Parties - the perfect handmade fun for your child's birthday or special day! For more information and booking enquiries click here.
